Finally! a question on this newsgroup that *I* can respond to.
If you make the filename start with a period (or dot) ie: ".sig" then the normal
ls command will ignore it, making it "hidden". Additionally, typing:
chmod 700 <filename>
will keep anyone else from being able to read the file, or write to the file, and
typing:
chmod 700 <directoryname>
will keep anyone else from being able to even go to or list the directory, making
all files in that directory "hidden".
