[INFO] Read before requesting ASCII Art- please

Alt.ascii-art is a friendly newsgroup-- well, we try to be.
Usually we are very happy to fulfill requests -- however it
becomes monotonous to fill the same requests day after day.
The regulars on the newsgroup get tired of seeing the same
ASCII pics too... So, to make everyone happy, let me help
you find the ASCII art that you are looking for. I've listed
a few helpful suggestions below. If these suggestions don't
help-- please come back and ask for more assistance.

Even if the suggestions do work, we welcome you back to the
alt.ascii-art newsgroup. Feel free to post some of your
attempts at ASCII art-- ask for tweaking/minor adjustments--
join in the conversations... or let us know which suggestion
worked for you. As I said, we try to be a friendly newsgroup.

To find that elusive ASCII art-->>

1) check dejanews. Go to: http://www.dejanews.com
look in alt.ascii-art archives for your topic. Try different
names. If you are looking for cats, be sure to check 'cat',
  'kitten', 'kitty', etc.

2) visit the ASCII art sites...
   http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/2695/links.htm
this is the main collection of ASCII art links-- most sites
have descriptions-- you may find your ASCII art picture at
one of these sites. Several of the ASCII art sites have
   intraweb search features too!

3) look to your favorite search engine-- read the boolean
instructions and follow them. +"ASCII art" +"your topic"
should elicit a good result on most search engines.

4) if you are looking for lettering-- be sure to check out FIGLET!
FIGLET will do it all for you-- you don't even have to download
a program. Go to the following URL:
  http://www.surfplaza.com/figlet/
Other FIGLET sites can be found in the newsgroup's FAQ. See #5.

5) if you have questions about fonts, spacing, characters,
tutorials, and/or other basic ASCII art information, check out
our newsgroup's FAQ. Many people worked together to create
this FAQ in the hopes that it will answer the most commonly
asked questions... There is a good chance that you will find
it helpful. The FAQ and mini-FAQs are posted regularly to this
newsgroup-- however, if you can't wait and don't want to check
dejanews, you can go to the following URL:
  FAQ: http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/7373/faq.htm

Hope this helps... Welcome to alt.ascii-art.
