The latest versions of the most common browsers do recognise both. I'd suggest using the "letter" kind because it's easier to remember that "lt" is short for "less than" than it is to remember that the ascii character '<' corresponds to the number "60". > I would change Martin's instructions and portrait llike so: > > Replace occurances of... (and the semicolon) Replace character with or with & & & < < < If you use the "find-and-replace" function in your text editor you should remember to do the & before the < (or you might end up with < which is not what you want...). Or you could write a little program that does all of that for you. I made one and put it online here: http://www.ludd.luth.se/users/vk/cgi/ASCII-to-HTML/ Just copy the image into the text box and hit the "convert" button (you can't miss!). > -- > ___ cq547@freene+.+oron+o.on.ca > _/ | ,^%--- llizard aka ejm > |_____| __<_ \ Now, no doubt, the experts will start > --- == >/ jumping all over me for this.... > [_____] __>,^ ASCII-ar+ and ASCII-anima+ions > ejm| | //| | http://www.crosswinds.net/~llizard/ You mean, like this?
