re: Add sound to animated gif
>There are some utils that converts 89a's to Java and you can add sound, >I think one of them is egor animation. Thanks for the above and many other comments that I received on this newsgroup and via email. After reviewing all inputs and after evaluating some of the more promising demo software packages, I came to the conclusion, that the original idea of adding sound to animated gifs is not a good one. It is an inferior approach to taking a multimedia authoring tool in the first place, and my multimedia technology of choice is QuickTime. It is the same technology that Pixar Studios have used to implement the Toy Story Book, but my multimedia production will be on a slightly smaller scale :-) Seen from a different perspective, ascii art will be "merely" one medium in the multimedia experience involving motion, color and sound. Making these multimedia movies is therefore multiple, multiple, multiple times more work, but also multiple, multiple, multiple times more fun (for me at least). In any case, I have already placed a placeholder on my homepage ... Let's Sing and Dance, Birdstein! (ascii art multimedia) ... and I will let this newsgroup know if I manage to populate that page, hopefully in the near future. (I have already placed an animated, although not multimedia, banner on that page, you may enjoy that for the moment) You will need a QuickTime plugin for your web browser (if you don't have it already) that you can download from Netscape's home page or from Microsoft Internet Explorer's home page or from Apple Computer's QuickTime home page, and from many other places in cyberspace for that matter. The QuickTime plugin is freeware (just like all the other plugins are). BTW, I already got a "YOU GOT TO DO IT!" suggestion for Birdstein to do the "Macarena" in multimedia, but the digital soundtrack alone is already several MB, so a solution is needed to reduce the file size. Or is there anyone willing to wait for 10 minutes, just to watch an ascii bird sing and dance the Macarena? --------------------------------------- ,, _ Grandpa Devilstein, ( "> <" ) just Who is our ,(->)-> <( <) Creator?
