Use any fixed-width font. For example, Courier New. I see you are using 
OE, go to tools/options, and in the "read" tab (or something like that) 
there is a font option. Click it. Set all the font (proportional or fixed 
width) to a fixed width font such as Courier New, this way OE won't mess 
with fonts anymore.
