ASCII -- American Standard Code for Information Interchange, ANSI
X3.4-1968
ANSI -- American national Standards Institute

ascii-art is artwork, mainly pictures, created with only the ASCII
characters.

BTW, 'ASCII standard' is an example of repetitive redundancy.
