A.K. Dewdney's a stark-raving loonie. I was given a copy of his book
"The Planiverse" ... it's a book about how he's just futzing around and
suddenly "the screen shifted... and I was looking at a whole world of
two-dimensional beings" ... [creepy horror music] He goes on and on and
on about these little figments of his imagination. The most interesting
part of this demented creation is that he's only been able to reproduce
his results for anyone other then these two or three people... Of
course, if the media's involved, "It must not be a good time to contact
the other world. I'm sorry."  Uh-huh.

He becomes "friends" with one of the hallucinations and names it
"Yendred" . I don't think it's a coincidence that it's almost exactly
his last name backwards. Dewdney= "Yendwed" ...

If you wondered, his full name is Alexander Keewatin Dewdney.  Right.
