I know that there exist a librarie called aalib that permit to convert
an image to ascii.
Using this lib, you can for example watch a dvd in ascii, play Quake2
in ascii, etc...
This is free software, so you can read the sources :)
I don't know the address of their website, but you can use google or
freshmeat.net to find it (aalib)...
