Mathematics is a part of nature. I think that art has been competing with nature since day one. I agree that mathematics will not overtake art. It, like every other medium that a creative person can get their hands on, is becoming art. As for intangible qualities, everything has intangible qualities. The Mona Lisa has the advantage of being popular enough to influence people to invest years of study in the work.
