Lucida Console is what I use, and it is a TrueType font. Comes with
Microsoft Plus, the colossal waste of money. Good thing it was a
present, eh? Here's the gory details:

Every TrueType font is required to have "kerning" info. That's the
distance between chars. It is also required to have widths for each
char. Most TrueType fonts take advantage of this. However, Lucida
Console, Courier New, etc. have the same width for each char and the
same kerning for each char. To further complicate things, each font can
be classified, such as a symbol, roman, fixed width etc. Most fonts
don't take advantage of this. All of the preceding techno-babble applies
to PostScript type one and three as well.

Less than a month 'til Christmas!  I'm happy... I get to see my dad in
Minnesota. (I'm in Virginia.)
