In thoery there is two things wrong with your suggestion. The first
of which is that the person should be useing a fixed fone (such as
courier) in there news app if they are going to a group like
alt.ascii-art. The second is that even if they do use a fixed font or
they cut and paste it to another app it still won't do them any good
since you forgot to make sure that your line wrapping settings where
correctly set. And you didn't.
