My machine does the same, leaving me with shaded blocks, lines and symbols instead of lower case alphabet letters. But most of them are worth the aggravation of having to turn my machine completely off and on again (esp. fireworks.vt). If someone knows a command key to switch the damn symbols back into oblivion so I can read my screen, let me know. :) Best, Me 2=^D
