True, however....
If someone has removed the initials/credits
of an ASCII picture and reposted without
giving credit where due, (or claiming unknown)
 it is usually assumed that the poster
created the art posted.  This is generally
accepted as the norm.  So, yes, you did
take credit for the picture you posted.

That lighter was **just** posted on this
newsgoup-- with initials.  I find it very
unlikely that you found that pic on the
 'net with initials stripped already.

To me, taking off credits and not
acknowledging the people who originally
make the ASCII art pictures is  rude and
inconsiderate.   Taking credit for another
person's work, in addition to violating
copyright laws, is dishonorable.  A very
small person does that.   Sure, some people
take it as a form of flattery--  IMO, it's
disgraceful.  I would hope that more people
in this world would have some  integrity
and respect... guess not.
